6 MONTH FREE TRIAL OFFER TO PART 91 NBAA MEMBERS
If you have not heard of Corporate Aircraft Association (CAA) yet, let me
explain who we are. On March 1, 1990, a small group of charter companies and
corporate flight departments formed Global Charter Association. The primary
purpose of this organization was to join together for better hotel crew rates
and to market jet charters. By 1993 the membership consisted almost entirely
of corporate flight departments and had discontinued marketing jet charters.
The membership decided to form a new entity named Corporate Aircraft Association,
Inc.
A Board of Directors was formed and CAA dedicated itself to one goal-use the
collective purchasing power of the members to obtain lower prices from their
vendors. The first project was a comprehensive hotel directory based upon negotiated
rates for the membership. Crew rates were negotiated and a directory was published.
The hotel program ended in December, 1995.
In 1993, CAA negotiated exclusive rates with other vendors. CAA now receives
discounts of 25% from FACTS Training, Inc., and 20% from Cockpit Management
Resources, Inc..
In 1992 we began exploring the possibility of a fuel program. A committee was
formed and met with several of the wholesalers and with a major oil company.
After a year we had decided that the best fuel program we could produce would
be one that had no middle men, no commissions, and would be a direct CAA-FBO
connection. CAA would gather the fuel data from its members in order to determine
their combined volumes at different airports. For the very first time, major
corporations shared their fuel information. After determining our major fueling
locations, FBO's were contacted and asked to submit bids for CAA's business.
The goal was to get our fuel costs as low as possible while giving the FBO's
the margins necessary to stay healthy. We wanted a program that was easy to
use and that required nothing more than the presentation of our CAA Aircraft
ID Card. We wanted to be treated as a single entity, much like the old farm
co-ops. With over 300 jets in the program we had "leverage."
The majority of FBO's have welcomed our program. They benefit from increased
volume and we benefit from lower prices. They like the idea of being paid by
the flight departments instead of third parties. As one FBO recently said, "This
is a WIN-WIN situation!" CAA Members elect, by vote, only one FBO at a
given airport to participate in the program. We designate that FBO as a "CAA
Preferred FBO" for its airport. Both price and quality of service determine
this selection.
CAA has its own web site (http://www.corpaa.org). Members use the Member's Only
Section to obtain our latest directories and prices. Through the use of e-mail
and our web site, our membership has become very personal...friendships have
developed and ideas produced. CAA has become much more than just a money saving
organization. It is now a gather place for corporate flight departments. All
members must have Internet access capability, telephone service, and a fax machine.
The CAA Members vote on all bids from the FBO's. The members select the CAA
Preferred FBO for each airport. It is not easy for a FBO to be named a CAA Preferred
FBO. To gain this recognition the FBO must offer good service, good facilities,
a fair price, and be approved by a majority of our members.
If you are a Part 91 operator (Part 135 operators are not allowed) and operate
at least one jet aircraft (not a solely a turboprop) and belong to NBAA, we
invite you to join with us for six months, free of charge, and with no obligations.
All membership fees are waived. Take a look at what we have accomplished and
see if it works for you. During this free trial period you will have access
to our FBO's and our fuel discounts. At the end of this trial period you can
either join us or leave us. The choice will be yours. You will not even receive
a phone call from us, just a written inquiry as to what you would like to do.
Actually, we feel that once you try us, you'll like us. Our fuel prices will
become even lower as our volumes increase. We are a non-profit corporation and
staffed primarily by volunteers-pilots like yourself. Take a look at our Board
of Directors. We have brought very professional people to this endeavor. A CAA
Member helps himself while helping the entire membership.
If you want to take an active part in reducing your costs, CAA is for you! It
is owned by the members and they decide what we do. The hard work has been done
by others. Now we ask you to send in your application and see for yourself.
After all, you have nothing to lose but possibly paying lower fuel prices. If
you have any questions please have your department manager call us. We want
you with us!!
Fly safe,
Billy Shomaker
Billy Shomaker, Chairman
CAA MEMBER'S COMMENTS:
This year I earned a $5,000 bonus, largely in part for saving our company nearly
five times that amount in fuel purchases using our CAA membership. Remarkably,
I did it using the same FBO's we usually use!
Arthur H. Penrose Jr, Dir of Aviation
Updata Capital, Inc.
When we use a CAA Preferred FBO, customer service is always friendly, we receive
prompt fuel service and it seems like we are a preferred customer....we will
save over $25,000.00 per year with the CAA Preferred FBO system..
Harvey A. Meharry, Chief Pilot/Flight Dept Mgr
Southern Multifoods, Inc.
I consider joining it as one of the best recommendations I've made to our CEO!
The savings in fuel costs has paid the membership costs many times over.
Wayne Fletcher, Chief Pilot
US Counseling Services Inc.
In 1999 Lowe's has saved in excess of $14,000, being a CAA Member Company Billy
Shomaker, Dir of Aviation
Lowe's Companies, Inc.
..when we do fly long trips we routinely save $300-$500 on one fuel purchase.
..of the three discount programs we use CAA is my preferred. Brent Barmore,
Flight Captain
Murphy Oil Corporation
I was pleasantly surprised to discover that in the first six months of 1999
we have saved $5,566.00 by using CAA FBO's. I don't understand why everyone
who operates a turbine powered aircraft isn't a member of CAA!...money in the
bank!
Tom Prevost Jr, VP, Aviation
CIGNA Corporation
CAA is one of the cornerstone tools in our fuel cost management program....CAA
plays a crucial role. We make our selection of FBO's, based largely on their
participation in the CAA program.
James E. Lara, GM Aviation
Sea Ray Boats
The CAA fuel program paid for itself the first time we fueled
Andrew Jester, Chief Pilot
Kimball International Transit, Inc.
CAA has saved us an average of $1,000.00 per month...As a one plane operation
flying 600 hours per year..
William Hobson, Chief Pilot
Coast Services Incorporated
In the four months we have used CAA our small flight department saved $2,050
on about 4,000 gallons of fuel.
Wally DeVasier, Dir of Aviation
Windswept, Inc.
We have also received (in addition to fuel) significant discounts on training
provided by Cockpit Management Resources. It is rewarding to be part of an organization
which actively solicits input from its members...
Brent Blazey, Dir of Flight Operations
Frontier Communications
We participate in several other fuel cost savings programs and CAA is by far
the best. Not only do we save more money through our participation in CAA's
program, but I have fun doing it!
Dave Maffett, Aviation Manager
Colonial Pipeline Company
